On seeing this, Paladin quits the job. The gunfighter shows up and kills all the townspeople who were gunning for him. Then he and Paladin come to an agreement that if he hangs up his guns he can go back to his hometown to marry his sweetheart. But it turns out that she has fallen in love with someone else, and more trouble ensues.
